Sara Bishop10 March 2025We were aware that we could have major problems in our Victorian walls with rot of some description. Simon and his team came out the same day we discovered the problem (which luckily was “only” wet rot); sprayed the affected area and we are now sorted. A quick efficient diagnosis helped peace of mind. We would highly recommend SMPS Building & Preservation. Thank you! Sara MacLeanPosted on Google
robert bishop10 March 2025Hello, We had some wet rot which SMPS came out and inspected and then diverted a two man team to come and deal with it within the day as we had plasterers on site. Whilst they were onsite they also checked out some old plaster work which looked as though there may be a problem but thankfully there wasn’t. Simon was really efficient and responsive and a great job done. No brainer to use SMPS if you have such a problem.Posted on Google

Didn't hear anyhring back so called again same day was sent a message that was in meeting and sent me watsapp link which I sent details over on the 22nd of February still not heard anything back. Kirsten McNicol8 March 2025Really knowledgable and honest guy. We had mould appear in our bungalow we’d just bought which had been empty for some time beforehand. Thankfully it was just condensation but we’d had another damp specialist out who had recommended some measures which would’ve cost us quite a bit of money, but SMPS were really honest and said we didn’t need to spend money on any mould products, just needed to sort better ventilation with the windows and roof. Having no experience with any damp or mould, he could’ve easily sold us anything but we really appreciated the honesty which is really rare nowadays. We wouldn’t hesitate to call again in the future if we had any issues.Posted on Google
Greg Miller28 February 2025Simon and the team have been brilliant. Anything we discovered in the process of eradicating dry rot was not a problem. Very easy to communicate with and was extremely understanding supporting the works required. Our project grew arms and legs but that happens with Dry Rot. 100% recommend SMPS Building and Preservation. Pricing was very fair and reasonable. Fingers crossed we will not need any further works in our church but if we do SMPS will be our first call. CheersPosted on Google
Stella Beckley23 February 2025Simon and his team have worked on our house for a while now to remedy the awful level of dry rot and woodworm and the knock on effects structurally. Really put our minds at ease, provided a comprehensive report with clear descriptions of what needed doing, the supporting photos to show what had been done. Simon recommended a roofer and plasterer to get our house back to normal which was invaluable and they worked together to discuss solutions. They cleared all the debris away at the end of the day and were really sympathetic to our situation. All the original features of the property were worked around and saved and they protected the stained glass window. Thanks so much!Posted on Google

Jack Lang6 December 2024We had Simon visit our property after finding an issue, which we suspected was Dry-rot. We were extremely worried. However, we were quickly put at ease when we were assured by Simon that regardless of how extensive the issue is, he will have seen worse and that everything can be sorted. After some investigation work which we weren't charged for ! We had clarification that it was definitely Dry-rot. An extensive and very educational report that was easy to understand was quickly submitted, we proceeded with the work promptly, Simon and his very friendly team turned up when they said they would with great communication in-between times, they protected our property meticulously before starting work. Even though we required extensive and I imagine very tricky structural repairs within our property, nothing was an issue to the Smps team. We were stunned at how presentable, organised, and well equipped the company is, The work was carried out ahead of schedule to a very high standard. We were guided through the whole process as it was going on, which we thought was excellent. We were also supplied with photos of the progress daily. The men who were at my home were very courteous and respectful to us, and our needs, they made what we thought was going to be a very stressful process very easily digestible ! Our house was left immaculate after the work was completed. We were stunned as it was a very dirty job, the men were a testimonial of this every day we couldn't believe the colour of them.... Once the works were completed, our guarantee paperwork was issued promptly. We can't speak highly enough of Smps Building Preservation ! Thanks too, Simon and the team for all their efforts.Posted on Google
Arran Green4 December 2024Got Simon and his team in to sort out dry rot we had in our property , initially we had 3 quotes from others all giving poor advice and massively over priced quotes in comparison with Simon’s based on doing the same things. We opted to use Simon as a family friend had used him before and after the other prices and feedback his was far superior and his communication and advice was crystal clear and an extremely easy process from start to finish !! Highly recommend !!Posted on Google

BETTY SHEDDEN15 October 2024What can I say about Simon and his team ! Absolutely first class workmen who went all out to fix our problems in bathroom and kitchen. It was a very traumatic time for an elderly couple like ourselves but they looked us straight in the eye and told us not to worry ,that they would fix it and they did exactly that , basically giving us back two new rooms . Molly McCarthy25 September 2024Simon came out at short notice and surveyed our property for suspected dry rot free of charge. He was clear about the extent of the issue and really friendly and reassuring about what work would be required and the cost. After the fact, he wrote us up a thorough report and even called to suggest options to help with the buildings insurance which was really kind! The price quoted for the work was reasonable and it was great to hear from someone who really knew his stuff. Would highly recommend :)Posted on Google
Robert Findlay30 August 2024I contacted Simon by email on Wednesday asking for a survey to be completed. He responded virtually straight away and was at my property on the same day. Survey was comprehensive and a full written report was provided, along with required quote, for works needing carried out. In addition Simon highlighted 'other' works which needed immediate attention, not work that he would carry out but essential nevertheless. First class service, extremely professional and i would happily recommend their services.Posted on Google
Nikki Dunlop26 August 2024So. Wouldn't wish dry rot on anyone. It's devastating and expensive. Simon and his team at SMPS took the sting out of a very distressing situation. They did what they said they would do, documented everything in advance, updated with issues without being dramatic and sorted the various challenges that came up. They worked with my plumber and joiner to get the best all round result. Cannot compliment their operation highly enough.Posted on Google
Stephanie Pollock22 August 2024Simon can to view our property last year & couldn’t have been more helpful and knowledgable. However at the time we done what most people do & went for a different company with a cheaper quote, which ended up being the worst decision. Not only was the work unsafe, substandard & finished poorly, our property was further damaged & not rectified by the company. Thankfully Simon came to our rescue when we got back in touch. Within a few hours he had spoken to our loss adjuster & provided a detailed quote & report. When work began, Simon knew straight away our property was unsafe & made sure our insurance understood this so we could move to alternative accommodation. Over the course of 6 months, Simon & his team diligently worked to repair and make our home safe again. His knowledge & expertise is exemplary added with brilliant communication. I was always kept in the loop & he was more than happy to chat through everything. The work was impeccable & I truly cannot recommend this company enough. We now have a safe, damp & dry rot free home, I dread to think where we would be without SMPS in our corner. Thank you again!Posted on Google
Richard Craig17 August 2024SMPS had to come back to our building (see earlier review below) to tackle another major job and it was done in double-time with minimal mess or fuss. Over the past months they've always been responsive to questions and the work onsite is very thorough, removing and replacing any infected structures. SMPS tackled a complicated case of dry rot in my flat and the building. They cleared out the decay in no time and restored the old tenement features. --- Unlike other contractors, they diagnosed the problem without asking you to shell out hundreds of pounds for a survey. When onsite, the team were polite and aware of the stress this type of work entails for owners. When the work was done they left the flat very clean. Communication was straightforward with SMPS - they get through the work quickly and effectively.Posted on Google

The area being worked on was sealed off with plastic to orevent dust and debris spreading. I would highly recommend Simon to anyone having damp or rot issues.Posted on Google

David Little17 February 2024A little while ago, we discovered that we had dry rot in our house. We were totally devastated and we thought that our house was going to fall down. We had no idea if the dry rot could be dealt with or not, nor how much it would be… We contacted three dry rot specialists. The first said that the job was too big for him. The second was Simon from SMPS. He looked at the dry rot and his first comment was that he had seen far worse and that he had no doubt that he could deal with our problem. His confidence and manner made us feel much better. He told us that he would let us have a price for the work over the next couple of days. The third looked at the dry rot and said that it was bad but again told us that it was treatable. He immediately gave us an estimated price making an assumption that further work would be required to ascertain the extent of the problem. A couple of days later, Simon came to our house again to discuss the work required. He stated a price to do the initial work but did say that the price could well rise as the extent of the damage became apparent. Simon’s price was quite a bit less than the other quote/estimate and we decided to go with SMPS. The main reason was not totally due to cost but mainly due to his demeanour and confidence. He showed us photographs of his previous work (which was uncannily similar to our problem) and reassured us that he would deal with the dry rot for us. We agreed a date for SMPS to start the work. Simon, Andy and Logan turned up exactly when he said that they would and they immediately went to work. After our period of despair, it was great to see professionals dealing with a problem that did not faze them at all. As anticipated, the initial work revealed that the dry rot had progressed further into the building. Simon kept us updated throughout and when he told us that he had found that the dry rot had progressed, he was almost apologetic BUT again he stated that it was not a great problem and even reassured us that it would not greatly increase his original estimate. The three of them worked tirelessly over a number of days. Throughout, they were courteous and showed great respect for our home. They were meticulous in the way that they worked and Simon provided me with photos all of the time. For a job that naturally created A LOT of dust and debris, the team managed to contain it in the one room and there was very little disruption to the rest of the house. The quality of their work has been superb and I am now confident that they have eradicated the dry rot. What has been really impressive is the fact that Simon has contacted us since doing the work to see that everything is OK which is certainly great customer service. The work has cost a lot of money, but SMPS have still worked out cheaper than the other quotations. I would thoroughly recommend Simon and SMPS for their manner, professionalism and value for money.Posted on Google
David Richardson15 February 2024Had Simon come out to assess a bit of dampness in livingroom. He was very thorough and explained exactly the issue and how they would treat the issue. Communication was excellent from start to finish and the work was carried out very efficiently by himself, Andy & Logan, tidying up as they went along. Simon also organised the plasterer to come in 2 days later to plaster the wall. This was also done to a very high standard. Would definitely recommend SMPS Building Preservation to anyone having Damp or Dry Rot problems etc.Posted on Google

From start to finish he made the full process very easy, updating us daily and delivered on every aspect of the works. Going above and beyond to put our house back together again from dry rot. Home report showed no signs of this and areas had been botched over by cowboys. The whole first level of our home was taken apart and put back together the correct way. This gave us peace of mind before fully revamping the property. We can't thank him and his team for all there hardwork.Posted on Google
